We Are Also Like the Disciples of Jesus

It has been more than sixty years since I was saved. Time has passed so quickly that I often find myself saying, “How did so many years go by in a flash?” Looking back over these six decades, I can see countless instances of God’s grace and His works in my life.

The Work That Jesus Did Was Also Revealed Through Peter and the Disciples

The Book of Acts records many of the works done by the disciples of Jesus. Most of these accounts describe the works that God performed through them. After Jesus’ resurrection and ascension, God continued His work through those who had been saved.

In Acts chapter 3, we read about the lame man who sat by the Beautiful Gate of the temple and, after meeting Peter, stood up, walked, and leaped for joy. The same miracles that Jesus performed while on earth were revealed again through Peter, John, and the other disciples after His ascension.

If we believe in Jesus and have been saved, then the very works that were manifested through Him will also be revealed through us—by the Holy Spirit who works within us. What an astonishing truth this is!

Jesus was crucified and, three days later, rose again and ascended into heaven. Therefore, we can no longer see His physical form on earth. Yet, through the Book of Acts, we see that the Spirit of Jesus came upon the saved, and the works that Jesus had done were manifested again through Peter and the other disciples. The same Spirit of Jesus now dwells within us who have been forgiven of our sins, and just as He worked through Peter and John, He will also work through us.

The Same Holy Spirit Dwells in Us and Works Through Us

Jesus was crucified and died to wash away all our sins. Whoever believes in this truth, as the Scripture says—

“Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38)

—will receive the Holy Spirit that God gives. When we believe in Jesus and are forgiven of our sins, the Holy Spirit who worked in Peter and John will also dwell in us and work through us. When we preach the gospel, the work of salvation takes place, and even the sick are healed.

The Holy Spirit works through us, but there is one important thing we must understand: we must first have faith that Jesus is alive and working within us. When we truly believe this, we become one with Jesus, and the same God who worked through Peter and John will work through us. We, too, will become the Peters and Johns of this generation—servants through whom God’s work is revealed, and precious laborers of the gospel.

By the grace of God, I came to believe that Jesus was crucified and died to wash away my sins—and I was forgiven. Since then, I have lived for the gospel, continually trusting in God’s Word and believing that Jesus is alive and working within me. Whenever I have such faith, I have repeatedly experienced God’s work inside me. There are so many works that God has done in my life that I cannot possibly recount them all—how He changed me completely and accomplished His work through me.

The Spirit who worked through Peter and the other disciples of Jesus is the same Spirit that was in Jesus Himself. That is why the disciples were able to do the same works as Jesus did. If we simply believe in Jesus, His same power can also be manifested through us. The Jesus who worked through Peter and the other disciples will surely work through us as well—and thus, we too have become His disciples. 

 

我们也像耶稣的门徒一样

我得救已经六十多年了。时间过得太快了，让我不禁感慨：“一晃怎么就过了这么多年啊？”回顾过去的六十年，在我的生活中，有数不清的神的恩典与作工。

 

耶稣所作的工作，同样通过彼得和门徒们显现了出来

《使徒行传》中记录着很多耶稣门徒们所做的工作。大部分讲述的都是神通过耶稣的门徒们所作的工。耶稣复活升天后，神通过得救的人们作了工。

《使徒行传》3章里记录了坐在圣殿美门旁的瘸腿的人遇到彼得之后，站起来、行走、蹦跳的故事。耶稣在世上时所行的奇迹，在耶稣升天后，通过彼得、约翰等门徒们彰显了出来。如果我们相信耶稣，得救了，那么通过耶稣彰显出来的作工，依靠在我们里面作工的圣灵，同样会通过我们彰显出来，这是多么惊人的事实啊。

耶稣被钉死在十字架上，三天后复活升天了。所以，我们在这世上再也看不到耶稣的面容。但通过《使徒行传》我们可以看到，耶稣的灵临到得救的人们，耶稣所作的工，同样通过彼得以及其他门徒们彰显了出来。耶稣的灵也临到了罪得赦免的我们里面，通过彼得、约翰作工的耶稣，也同样会通过我们作工。

 

同样的圣灵居住在我们里面，也同样会通过我们作工

耶稣被钉在十字架上死去，洗净了我们一切的罪。相信这一事实的人，就像话语所说“彼得说：‘你们各人要悔改，奉耶稣基督的名受洗，叫你们的罪得赦，就必领受所赐的圣灵。’”（徒2：38），必领受神所赐的圣灵。只要我们相信耶稣，罪得赦免了，那么住在彼得、约翰里面作工的圣灵，同样会住在我们里面，通过我们作工。当我们传福音时，会兴起得救的工作，也会有生病的人病得医治。

圣灵会通过我们作工，但有一个事实，我们需要清楚。那就是必须先拥有“相信耶稣活在我们里面作工”的信心。只要我们拥有相信耶稣的信心，我们就与耶稣成为了一心，通过彼得、约翰作工的神，也会通过我们作工。我们也会成为这时代的彼得、约翰，成为彰显神作工的神的仆人，成为福音的宝贵工人。

我蒙神的恩典，相信了耶稣为了洗净我的罪，被钉十字架死去的事实，罪得赦免了。此后，我为了福音生活着，不断相信着神的话语，相信耶稣活在我里面作着工。当我拥有信心时，无数次经历到神在我里面作工的部分。神在我身上所做的工是如此之多，以至于无法一一讲述“神是如何使我变化一新，通过我成就了怎样的工作”。

通过彼得，以及耶稣的其他门徒作工的灵，与耶稣肉体里的灵，是同样的灵。所以门徒们也能做与耶稣同样的工作。只要我们相信耶稣，通过我们也可以行使耶稣同样的能力。为彼得以及其他门徒作工的耶稣，也同样会为我们作工，我们也成了耶稣的门徒。
